in interior design magazines such as Architectural Digest, and Better Homes and Gardens. Macy's on Union Square
in downtown San Francisco displays a beautiful 18x9 foot mural of Roberta's just inside from the O'Farrel Street entrance.
Her work also adorns the penthouses, Alexandra’s and Victor's of the Westin St. Francis Hotel, also in San Francisco.
She has worked all over the country, beautified many exclusive private homes, as well as some fabulous hotels, restaurants,
and wineries. A few examples are the Napa Grill in San Diego and Rhode Island, and the California Cafe in Schaumburg,
IL. or, Healdsburg's Ferrari-Carano Winery. Born in Roseburg, Oregon, Roberta moved to San Francisco in 1981 to work with her sister, Shelly Masters a master finisher and instructor at the Day Studio. Roberta advanced her training by traveling with and becoming a lead finisher for the distinguished Evans & Brown, internationally renowned for their murals, tromp l'oeil and special effects for residential and commercial projects. Thus began her career as a "Decorative Artist" becoming a licensed painting contractor and starting her own company, Ahrens Studio, specializing in faux finishes and murals. Ahrens Studio has been very successful. From 1999 to 2007 she partnered her talents in the development what became Studio Replica of Petaluma. They won Best of Show and Gold Medal Awards at the 2005 San Francisco Flower and Garden Show. With her practical knowledge of artistic applications and experience painting large scale murals and finishes, she has developed an interesting new style of painting on a canvas that she makes by hand called cracked linen. In the past 5 years Roberta has created a large body of work based on botanical images. Her fine art is now represented in several galleries in California.
